About NetWage

Who is behind NetWage?

NetWage is an independent project, built and maintained by a small team of developers and payroll enthusiasts. We are not affiliated with any government body, payroll-software vendor or accounting firm — by design: no employer, union or administration reviews or weights our results.

Our mission

To provide salary calculators that are free, verifiable and instant. Our conviction: a numeric answer must be accurate and traceable — every rate we use is verified against an official source and dated. All calculations run locally in your browser by our internal engine (paie-engine), the same code that pre-computes the salary amount pages when the site is generated. No figure you enter transits through a server.

Concretely: a gross-to-net salary calculator, the reverse paycheck calculator for a target take-home, and pre-computed salary pages for the most-searched amounts — free, no account, no sign-up.

How rates are verified

Every calculation parameter — tax brackets, contribution caps, deduction amounts — is read by hand from an official source ( the Canada Revenue Agency, Revenu Québec and provincial finance departments for Canada ) then stored in a versioned file with its source URL, verification date and reviewer name. An audit blocks publication if a source is missing or a check is older than twelve months, and the engine is cross-checked against official reference calculators. The full detail is on the methodology page.

What NetWage does not cover

Honesty first: our calculators replace neither a payslip nor legal or tax advice. Employer-specific pre-tax deductions (RRSP matching, group insurance premiums), provincial surtaxes and refundable credits are outside the modelled scope; these limits are spelled out on the methodology page of each country.

A multi-country project, in the open

NetWage covers several countries — each with its own pages, in its own language, powered by its own public parameter file. A market is published only once its rates are verified on the local official sources and the engine cross-checked against the country's reference calculators; never on approximate figures. What is verified, pending or out of scope is stated in plain words on every page.

Funding and contact

The site is funded by advertising (Google AdSense), displayed only on editorial pages after your consent — never inside the calculators or on legal pages. Spotted a gap or an outdated rate? Write to us via the contact page — sourced corrections are always welcome.
